56 days - "Drop it"

"Sit" is pretty consistent now. Started on "Drop it" command and his first day with that was pretty good. Will keep trying it.  Last night was his best night going back to sleep after his middle of the night bathroom break.

He is also crying less after going in his crate when nobody can be with him at the time.

Thinking about a Sister for Jack - Georgia

Jack is 53 days today. Stairs are no longer an issue.  He slept the last 2 nights with me in my bed. Before I was sleeping on the couch, but the comfort of sleeping in my bed is huge. It may be a longer trip to the back door, but he's only going out twice per night.

He woke up every 2 hours (we have late nights), to go out to pee.

Started site training using small bits of beef roast. He doesn't quite have it perfect. But it's a good start.

Had a good walk to Jensen park and back. He got lots of real world interaction with other dogs barking from their gated yards.  Kind of freaked him out a little. He's doing so good.

Trying to get Cathi to let me buy one more from Makenzie so he has a friend, but she's making me sell my Springfield handgun first. So I put it up for sell on Utah Gun Exchange. We'll see if it goes.

50 days - Sam sneaks a snuggle buddy

Sam slept with Jack last night which I didn't know about till morning.  I noticed I got a full night's sleep so I was wondering why he was so good.  Tonight he will sleep on his own in the crate.  I told Sam to leave him in there, and if he cries I will be the one to get up and take him out.  It may be a whiny night but he's got to do it.

Introduction to Kong

Jack is getting better at eating and chewing his Kong.  I load it with Turkey then froze it.  He can now go DOWN the back patio stairs without too much trouble.

Sometimes he gets pretty playful and we have a squeeker toy the he loves to chew and fight with.  It is so funny he gets everyone to laughing.

Jack comes home!

Jack was able to come home to us today!  He is 48 days old.  He is a very calm puppy, that can show some excitement when appropriate.  He knows his name since Makenzie knew the name for him that we picked out from several weeks ago.

He comes when called and can go up the back patio stairs (after several rounds of practice). The first night I slept just outside the crate and took him out every two hours.

He is such a good dog!

Picking our Puppy, Jack

We went over as a family to check out the batch of puppies and to select which dog we would go with.  There were several to choose from:

We went with a male with brown spots over both eyes and a spot on the top of his head.  We surprised the kids with him inside a Christmas present.  Our neighbor, Makenzie Banz is the breeder and she let us take him for an hour.  He was 3 weeks old at this point

Makenzie sent us these professional 4 week old puppy pics of Jack:

We went to visit him at 5 weeks old:

Here he is a little over 6 weeks.  Only 5 more days to go and we get him at 49 days:
